About

My name is Rohan Kapoor. I am a teenager living in Massachusetts and I love computers and other electronic gadgets. That’s the basics that most people need to know about me!

In addition, I know several coding languages for computers. I am well versed in html (hyper text marketing languages) and css (cascading style sheets). I have a good enough understanding of PHP as well. I am also familiar with autohotkey. I am learning java and plan to learn C at some point as well. At this point, I know enough of MYSQL to get what needs to be done with databases, done. In August 2011, I added C# to the languages I am familiar with when I wrote my Custom Paper Deployment Tool.

I go to high school and am a relatively normal teenager at that level. I don’t really like sports but that’s neither here nor there. It’s really irrelevant to the context of this website.

I’m a Part-Time Website Developer. I generally will develop with or around WordPress, WordPress MU, BuddyPress, bbPress, Simple:Press, and other such related php programs. I have a pretty busy schedule so all websites that I’m developing have to work around that. I’m also generally flexible with my timings. Around my clients, I’m known as the “Web Developer for the Poor” because I work for a much lower cost then most of the industry with as good if not better quality. With my time being as valuable these days, those rates are slightly higher than normal but still well below other competing developers.

Personally, I also own and operate several websites. These websites are developed by me and are also powered by WordPress, WordPress MU, BuddyPress, bbPress, & Simple:Press.

  • http://wpmu.zyrot.com – This is my testbed of sorts. I use it as my testbed/sandbox for WordPress MU, BuddyPress, bbPress, and any plugins that I’m building or fooling around with. I also have several other small blogs powered by it. This domain is no longer owned be me and therefore there is no more testbed. All of my testing is done either live on this site or on a localhost install I have running on my Desktop computer.
  • http://rohankapoor.com – This is my personal website (this site). It is being domain mapped from a blog on http://wpmu.zyrot.com (this is purposely not a link because the domain mapping would change it, :P ) to http://rohan-kapoor.com . I use it as my blog as well as a portfolio of my work. The domain mapping is no longer active because I no longer own the domain http://zyrot.com. http://rohan-kapoor.com redirects here.
  • http://biologypowerpoints.com – This was created to be the premier resource for High School and College/University Students studying biology. Currently it is offline for probably the next week as I’m updating it to use WordPress MU, BuddyPress, & bbPress and integrating it with http://learning-alley.com. This domain is also no longer owned by me.
  • http://learning-alley.com – This is my newest personal project. The goal here was to use advanced web 2.0 tools such as WordPress Mu, BuddyPress, bbPress, & Simple:Press to create a state of the art system that teachers and students can use to find resources and help them succeed. Currently this site is a work-in-progress while I work through what I need to do before I can make it go live! I’ve been exceptionally busy and therefore haven’t had a chance to work on anything for this site at all. I do still own the domain though. If you’d like to know if I can work with you on your project or want to request a quote you can contact me. Thanks for viewing my website!

I’m very active in the Livescribe Smartpen Development community. You can view all of my work with Livescribe’s Smartpens on my Livescribe page. All of my projects listed on that page are freely downloadable. I also do custom Livescribe Development. Contact me for a quote.

I have begun working with the Raspberry Pi $35 computer and have written up a tutorial on “Americanizing” it. I have several projects in the works with the Raspberry Pi and I will be posting my progress on them as I make it.
